RTK guidance with the app running in the background or locked.

Sonarvision cannot be used when the app runs in the background with RTK.

To better understand this limitation, it’s important to know that when an app runs in the background, Apple severely restricts the app’s capabilities and limits it to very specific uses (such as streaming video or music). This ensures that apps cannot “spy” on the user while running in the background. However, Sonarvision uses a system that requires continuous operation to deliver both directional sounds and instructions.

For RTK, the app can likely access RTK data even in the background or when the screen is locked. It remains to be seen whether it is possible to deliver the full set of guidance data. It would be very convenient if RTK guidance could work with the phone locked and/or in the background.
